SMS Policy

This SMS Policy explains how Zooey (“Zooey,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses text messages in connection with heyzooey.com and the Zooey service.

1. Types of Messages

Sign-in and account-security messages

When you request phone-based sign-in, Zooey sends you a one-time verification code to authenticate your account. These messages are sent only in response to an action you initiate or when reasonably necessary to protect your account.

Match notifications

When a curator identifies something that may match an item on your Wanted list, Zooey may send you an SMS notification. Match notifications are sent only after a curator has reviewed and confirmed the potential match.

2. How to Opt In

By signing in with your phone number at heyzooey.com/login, you consent to receive both verification codes and match notifications from Zooey at the number provided.

By tapping, you agree to receive automated SMS from Zooey (verification codes and match alerts). Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.

After submitting, a 6-digit one-time code is sent to the number. Entering the code completes sign-in and confirms consent.

3. Message Frequency

Verification codes are sent only when you initiate phone-based sign-in. Match notification frequency varies based on your Wanted items and curator activity — you may receive no match messages in some periods and multiple in others.

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply according to your wireless plan. Zooey does not separately charge you for receiving SMS messages, but your mobile carrier may impose charges.

5. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of Zooey SMS messages at any time by:

After a valid opt-out request, you may receive one final confirmation message. Opting out may prevent Zooey from sending future verification codes to that number. You can continue to access Zooey through email sign-in.

Zooey will honor other reasonable requests to revoke SMS consent as required by applicable law.

7. Delivery and Carrier Availability

SMS delivery is subject to effective transmission by your mobile carrier and is not guaranteed. Messages may be delayed, filtered, or undelivered because of carrier availability, network conditions, device settings, or other factors outside Zooey’s control. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Zooey’s SMS service is intended for valid U.S. mobile telephone numbers.

8. Supported Numbers

By providing a phone number, you represent that you are the subscriber or customary user of that number, you are authorized to receive messages at that number, and you will notify Zooey if the number changes or is reassigned. Do not provide a phone number belonging to another person without authorization.

9. Privacy

Zooey uses phone numbers and SMS-related records to send verification codes, authenticate accounts, deliver match notifications, process opt-in and opt-out requests, prevent abuse, and maintain records of consent and messaging activity.

We do not sell your phone number or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may provide your number and related messaging data to vendors that help us deliver and administer SMS messages.

10. Changes to This SMS Policy

We may update this SMS Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version and update the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects the SMS program or your choices, we will provide reasonable notice before the change takes effect.
